Our Story

Urban Influences

Our story begins in Chicago and centers around family. After living in Chicago for many years, in 2007, we made a heartfelt decision to move home to Louisville, Kentucky to be closer to our family, as we were starting our own. We needed more space than we could ever get in a condo in the Windy City. We wanted to live in an area where we could reminisce about living in the Lakeview, Lincoln Park and Ukrainian Village neighborhoods. We chose Cherokee Triangle within the Highlands neighborhood.

Our young family moved into a completely gutted and renovated Italiante home built in 1872 (before the light bulb was invented) on the most famous Saturday in Kentucky — Derby Day. Our 135+ year old home features an open kitchen and dining area with high ceilings and lots of windows.

Wood & Metal

We called on our Italian roots and love for contemporary furniture to design and hand build a dining set that could both respect the history of the Mediterranean home and enhance the look and feel of the modern kitchen. We experimented with different wood species, materials, colors and designs. Each chair was made one at a time as we refined the design. After four months, we finished assembling it in our kitchen, which had become our dining laboratory.

Tribute to Family

Tedesco is the maiden name of Greg’s grandmother, who was a first generation Italian immigrant from Sicily. Rosa is from both our grandmother’s named Rosella and Rosalie. We deeply appreciate our ancestors’ influence on our family values, work ethic, and perseverance. Eating, socializing, telling stories and celebrating around the dining table was an important part of our childhood experiences.

Now, we’ve launched Tedesco~Rosa Dining Lab to enhance your home dining experience.
